Many more cupcakes!

So far behind in this:
So on spring break had a delicious kahlua St. Patrick's theme cupcake from Cupcake Oolala on the Plaza. Such a cute little place that I definitely will be visiting when I'm back in KC. It was similar to Molly's cupcakes here in Chicago. So good!

Then I had a red velvet cupcake from Crumbs on Clark Street in Chicago. Pretty delicious.

Finally, I had two more cupcakes from Molly's in Lincoln Park. And I have to say, Molly's cupcakes are the best cupcakes I've ever had. I had the cookie monster cupcake which has cookie dough in the middle, and the Ron Bennington which has chocolate frosting and peanut butter in the middle. YUM!

Crumalicious

Happened upon Crumbs location on Clark just north of the river. Tried the Caramel Toffee Crunch cupcake (think that's its name--it's not listed on the website yet) It had carmel toffee flavor inside and the frosting was delectable. Also tried Heather's cookies and cream cupcake. Again the icing was good but it needed some peanut butter in the middle. Then again, that is pretty much my response to everything!

Molly's cupcakes!

Heather and Ashley picked up four different types of Molly's cupcakes when they were out and about Chicago visiting.

When I tasted these cupcakes I literally moaned. The cupcake is that good. The center of the cupcakes are particularly amazing. The cookie dough one had raw cookie dough in the middle! Amazing!

These cupcakes top Crumbs! Crazy delicious. Crumbs icing may be a tad better and they're bigger, but the cake and filling in Molly's definitely wins!

Ooh la la

Location: Crumbs on Lasalle
Cupcake: The Ooh la la

The Ooh la la is a speciality cupcake for Valentine's Day and it is described as:
Chocolate Cake filled with vanilla cream cheese frosting topped with pink tinted vanilla cream cheese frosting and a heart shaped brownie.

This cupcake was freaking delicious and so fun to eat. The brownie on top was great and so adorable! This cupcake has filling and I've decided any cupcake with filling is just amazing.

Incidentally enough, I've found I go get a cupcake when I experience the sad sad time of just barely missing my bus.

"He even has a cupcake," Sadie adds.
"Lots of people have cupcakes," I say.
"No. Only people who are awesome."

Cupcake #2: Peanut Butter Cup

Location: Crumbs
134 north LaSalle
Chicago, IL

Cupcake: Peanut Butter Cup

This location was bigger than the other Crumbs I went to. There was seating available as well. The employees were super nice!

I've eaten 3/4 of this cupcake so far and it was hard to stop! It was delicious, the frosting was delicious buttercream with some peanut butter flavor. The cupcake is chocolate and there are bits of peanut butter cup on top of the cupcake. I only wish the cupcake had had an inner filling made of peanut butter or pb and chocolate.

Yum.

Cupcake number 1: Crumbs Bake Shop

Location: Crumbs Bake Shop
303 West Madison
Chicago, IL
Cupcake: The Mudslide

I went in search of my first cupcake at my first cupcake shop today and headed for Crumbs. This location is super close to my school but I didn't find out until now that there is also a location even closer to my school on LaSalle and Randolph (score!). The store is super small and I almost missed it. I wanted to find this shop after reading about it in Susane Colasanti's books. The store is really cute inside and all of their delicious cupcakes are on display. I had read up on them in advance on http://www.crumbs.com/cupcakes#0
and so I ordered the Mudslide described as:

"Chocolate cake filled with chocolate buttercream topped with coffee cream cheese frosting edged with chocolate chips and crushed chocolate sandwich cookies."

Yum freaking yum! These cupcakes are amazingly large! I left without a fork and then I opened it and had to go back to the store to get a fork because it's almost impossible to eat with your hands. I ordered skim milk to go with it because it was cheaper than the coffee. :) Apparently though, if you check in on foursquare on Fridays and show them you can get any hot beverage for $2 when you buy a cupcake. I walked and stole a couple bites before finding a place to eat my delicious cupcake. It was super moist and chocolatey. The inside was especially delicious with a chocolate coffee flavor. I had just walked quite a ways from the art museum and hadn't had a good lunch so I was able to easily eat the whole thing.

I give this cupcake an A!
